Alana Bitsuie

Alana Bitsuie is Manager of Indigenous Governance and Direct Services at the Native Nations Institute (NNI), Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy. A Cree woman from Red Earth Cree Nation (Mîhkoskowakâhk Nêhiyawak), Treaty 5, Saskatchewan, she brings experience in Indigenous governance, community-based research, policy, and Nation rebuilding across Canada and the United States.

 

Alana is also a PhD candidate in American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona. Her scholarship examines Indigenous governance, language, knowledge sovereignty, and the ways Indigenous legal and cultural philosophies can inform contemporary governance. At NNI, she supports Native Nations through governance education, leadership development, direct services, and the development of culturally grounded approaches to Nation rebuilding.
